I now wonder, what if this is the Endless world? The Eternal and Arcane were two sides of 1 god. Callen and Jeanne are both survivor fury units capable of protecting themselves with shields and deliver massive damage, however, Callen is a crisis unit, she benefits from a lack of spirit, while Jeanne through Michelle is an Over unit, she benefits from an excess of spirit, thus showing their stances in the holy and dark magic spectrum. Both of them weren't capable of producing light and were discriminated for it by the followers of the Radiant One, however, eventually, Jeanne learned she has an excess of light while Callen learned she has an excess of darkness. If the Radiant One is indeed an evil and/or selfish God, Jeanne would have to choose between faith and doing what's right, thus hunting the witches or joining forces with Callen.Įdit: It is interesting to notice how Callen and Jeanne seem to be opposites but also parallels at the same time. So there you have it, either we will see Callen and Jeanne fight for opposite sides, and/or they will come to work together.

It is possible that the Radiant actually wants Callen and Jeanne to work together and unify his cult and the witches having realized this is the only way to fight the demons. The Radiant One let a devoted high priestess die as she hurt others to get more power in his name, and his new prophet is one that has been accused of being a witch and has suffered persecution even if not to the same degree as actual witches in Lumain. That is an option, the other option is that the Radiant One is trying to purge the corruption of its cult and is trying to fix the mistake he made by hunting the witches, which is what Cyrus is trying to achieve. Knowing Callen would grow to become a strong witch, the Radiant One needed a new prophet that could oppose her, someone with as much holy power as Callen had dark magic, Jeanne. He does want to oppose the demons and protect the humans, but he needs holy magic to be the only source of magic because prayers fuel him, thus he eliminates dark magic users who are born like that and forces his followers to pray excessively, all with the goal of eliminating the demons. I believe the Radiant One is just like that, benevolent and selfish at the same time. So if you ask me, holy magic is sold as harmless and pure but it's actually dangerous. You can die by using too much holy magic, while dark magic can change your appearance. It's interesting to see that both holy and dark magic are eventually harmful to the users, thus showing that the holy light is not fully benevolent as their followers think. So, which is the case? Is the Radiant One a benevolent or an evil god? Maybe he is neither. As a result, Callen, who was thought to be the new prophet, turned against the Radiant One and is now a Witch. Callen's mother did this despite being a witch herself all following the Radiant One's orders. The witches have been brutally hunted for years and it was the Radiant One's previous chosen prophet, Callen's mother, who committed so many atrocities against people that really weren't hurting anyone. But overall, from Jeanne's perspective, the Radiant One is a benevolent god.Ĭome in Callen's story and we see this is not entirely true.

The only thing that seems particularly evil about the Radiant One is how he let the high priestess die and how excessive use of holy magic can actually be harmful to the body. In Jeanne's story, we learn that the Radiant One has chosen Jeanne as his new prophet, she is the one that will lead the followers of the Radiant One against the forces of darkness and the demon army. There are really interesting elements that come from the two sides of the conflict. Jeanne's event references the Lumain royal family which we now know includes Callen, while Callen's story has her servants mentioning stories about a girl able to perform miracles which we know is Jeanne. Not only do they both deal with Lumains and the cult of the Radiant One, but they actually show the two sides of the conflict as well as reference each other. I find it so interesting how Jeanne's event came back to run simultaneously to Callen's new event precisely because of how tied together the two are. You know what we are missing here? A good all lore talk!
